Amitabh to play King Lear
Sunday, 10.28.2007, 09:52pm (GMT-7)

It will be historical moment for Indian cinema when superstar Amitabh Bachchan plays the lead role in a film by the super talented Vishal Bharadwaj .Bharadwaj hasn’t given a break to Shakespeare yet. After making adaptations of MacBeth and Othello as Maqbool and Omkara in Hindi, Bharadwaj is now planning a film on Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’.

A confirmation of this came from none other than Big B himself at 51st London Film Festival at Leicester Square where his yet-unreleased movie The Last Lear was screened a few days back.Responding to a question asked by a viewer, Big B revealed that he would be part of Bharadwaj’s third film based on the Bard’s work.

This time Bharadwaj is working on a script adaptation of ‘King Lear’. The film’s script will be complete by this yearend and the movie will most likely go on the floors in early months of 2008. Vishal Bharadwaj himself will compose the film’s music.
