For one girl it is the start of an improbable dream. It is a dream that many have perhaps had: to debut in a prestigious film from India’s most respected production house, directed by a director taking up the baton after eight long years, and that too opposite the nation’s biggest star. But it is model Anushka Sharma whose dream has come true.

Yash Chopra, Chairman, Yash Raj Films, announced that the nineteen year old from Bangalore has been identified to play the female lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Aditya Chopra’s third film as director 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'.

And it is finally the end of all the speculation and conjecture that had started about the identity of the female lead ever since the film was announced. Said Yash Chopra, “We were looking first and foremost for someone who could truly embody the spirit of small town Punjab and we know we have found her in Anushka.

And while she has no previous acting experience, we have seen that unique spark in her that makes us confident that she will be a standout even opposite Shah Rukh. ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ went on the floors on May 16 and will hit theatres worldwide on the December 12.”
