Heaven on Earth?
Wednesday, 09.19.2007, 03:52am (GMT-7)

Finally Bollywood’s bubbly actress Preity Zinta has found a meaningful role to please the niche audiences. Zinta will play the lead character in Toronto-based filmmaker Deepa Mehta’s next film

. The film, titled Heaven On Earth , will narrate the tale of a young battered housewife stuck up in an abusive marriage. The movie is inspired from the true tale of a Punjabi woman named Amandeep, whose disturbing story Mehta covered in her documentary ‘Let’s Talk About It’.

Made last year, the documentary was about Indian women who were victims of domestic violence and abuse in Canada. Preity Zinta’s would portray ‘Chand’, the protagonist. So now we might see the belle in the league of Konkona Sen and Nandita Das.
