India Post News Service

CHICAGO: It was a sort of social meet among Indian American physicians when the Indian American Medical Association, Illinois chapter, decided to hold one of its regular meetings with a musical concert at Ashyana Banquet Hall in Downers Grove, a Chicago suburb, last week The artists were well known in their field- Kamran Mehdi Hasan and Indrani Joshi accompanied by accomplished Tabla player, a Sitarist and a rhythm player.

They rendered classical songs, ghazals and popular filmy songs to the delight of 100 plus physicians and their spouses, and some businessmen. The three hours concert was highly appreciated by music lovers for its depth and artistry.Dr Kishore Ajmere, IAMA President welcomed the guests and briefly dwelt on IAMA activity.

Dr Manish Brahm Bhatt who heads IAMA Charitable Foundation pitched for bigger help to the Foundation money-wise and professional help wise. He said that the clinic run by the Foundation on Peterson Avenue in Chicago has been patronized increasingly not only by Indian Americans but by the community at large, and that it needs more funds and more voluntary help from the doctors.

He asked for a couple of more physicians to offer their services to the clinic so that it could successfully address increasing demanded on its services. Dr Sharad Parikh, secretary, also pitched for support for the association activities. Bala Bisla, chairperson of the auxiliary committee helped a lot in selling tickets.
