Benefit show for Durga Temple in Minnesota
Sunday, 10.07.2007, 11:32pm (GMT-7)

ST. PAUL, Minnesota: RGK Dance & Fitness Studio held its annual benefit show (Chowraha) for the Durga Temple Hindu Mandir of Minnesota last week at the St. Paul Student Center. The Studio mission is to help the community through art and dance.

It strives to bring the community together without any differences. More than 300 people attended Chowraha (cross roads) to help the community and enjoy a rhythm filled evening where the threads of time are woven together in a tapestry of fast dance and music. Artist Director of RGK, Renu Kumar welcomed the community and thanked the parents, community, youth volunteers and ISA for the support and for making the event a success. Following Renu's welcome speech were the rendition of the Indian and American national anthems by Vipasha Kumar and Anjali.

The music dance drama was set on the main character Megha who was celebrating her birthday on the same day as Diwali. Megha receives a package from her friend which sends her down to a journey in her past. The show was beautifully directed by Dipankar Mukherjee Some highlights of the Chowraha were: kiss of love, yeh duniya, bidi jailey, applaam chaapalaam along with a spectacular fashion show. The beautiful evening was concluded with a great dinner which was being served in the lobby of the venue.
