Empowering managers by Indian breathing tech
Wednesday, 10.10.2007, 12:28am (GMT-7)

RENO, NEVADA: Using ancient Indian "healing breath" techniques, a nonprofit organization has set-up a four-day training program here for the executives, to elevate their "creativity and clarity of mind" and reduce stress. Developed by a consulting team of international experts in business management, health science, law, education, and personal development of Art of Living Foundation, the main focus of this course is "Sudarshan Kriya", the powerful breathing-based technique, which incorporates specific natural rhythms of breath to release stress and "bring the mind to the present moment".

According to Alicia Kishpaugh, co-coordinator of this course, the practice of Sudarshan Kriya is instrumental in creating a sense of harmony in the body, mind and spirit. After the practice, participants commonly report feeling calm and centered, with a clearer vision of the world and themselves. Moreover, it brings more ease and joy in personal relationships, Kishpaugh adds. A prominent coach of this technique, Rajshree Patel, is flying in from India to teach this course.

This volunteer-based educational and humanitarian Foundation out of Bangalore (India) and established in 1981, has touched more than 300 million people in over 140 countries. Alison Pratte, another co-coordinator of the course, says that studies have shown that Sudarshan Kriya, the core technique taught in this course, has brought reduction in stress hormone, benefited immune system, reduced cholesterol, increased anti-oxidant protection, enhanced brain function, relieved depression, enhanced peace of mind, etc.

For every feeling or emotion there is a corresponding rhythm in the breath, she adds. Alicia Kishpaugh further claims that through the power of breath and ancient knowledge of mind, this course will teach executives how to handle negative emotions like anger, sadness, fear, etc., and will bring in them more enthusiasm, dynamism, harmony in relationships, increased resilience, a smile born from inner stability, and experience of a new depth in life and spirituality.

It will train them how to bring their mind effortlessly into the present moment and living in the present moment is the route to joy, she adds. Both Pratte and Kishpaugh stress that we can influence our mind through the breath by Sudarshan Kriya technique.

This course uses the link between breath and our emotions to come closer to the rhythm of our natural being. It will offer participants the practical knowledge and techniques to unlock their deepest potential and bring fullness in life, and every participant will come away lighter, with effective techniques for releasing mental and physical stress and increasing his/her health, energy, peace, self-knowledge, awareness, and joy.

The course will be held from October 25 to 28.
