Indique: New TV Series launched in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS, MN: The International Center and Blood Orange Media held a cocktail reception at Temple Restaurant (Shinto Lounge) to celebrate the launch of Indique a new television series created by Indian American filmmaker Dr Simone Ahuja.Indique is produced by Blood Orange Media, a multimedia company based in Minneapolis and Bombay, with affiliate producers and creative staff around the world.

Their goal is to produce original content that appeals to viewers who appreciate a knowledgeable perspective into the cultural, social, and economic evolution of the Indian subcontinent to better understand the relevance of the rapid changes in the region.

Dr Ahuja is the director, producer and host of Indique. She is a Minneapolis native and is a second generation Indian-American, who also happens to be a working dentist. She uses her own life-experience to show the exciting changes in their homeland that even Indian Americans are not always aware of. Her view of India has changed from the days of her infrequent childhood visits to family, along with the paradigm that was largely shaped by a western media and society.Indique explores Indian culture in southern and western part of India which is an area with an enormous economic boom.

The show focuses on topics like Bollywood, wine industry in India, fashion, travel, visual and performance arts. "Indique: Untold Stories of Contemporary India" was aired on Sundays at 10 p.m. on KTCI Channel 17 for three weeks beginning September 23.

It concentrates on a modernizing India and how traditions have rapidly influenced the educated consumer class which is not often noticed or understood in Westernized cultures along with the everyday hustle and bustle of Indian life.

Each episode entails something new and more like a exciting a talk with Rahul Bose, luxury on wheels, Bombay's finest, behind the scenes of a movie, behinds the look at walking the ramp and many more.Indique will also be available on DVD this month. Bollywood actor Rahul Bose was on hand to launch the CD release at Crossword Book Store, the largest bookstore chain in India.

It will also be shown on international flights of Northwest Airlines, Jet Airways of India and Virgin Atlantic. A few financial institutions have also taken DVDs for their clients and repatriating workers to show what the new India is like.
