St. Louis Indian Association to host India Nite
Sunday, 11.25.2007, 09:40pm (GMT-7)

 India Post News Service

St. Louis: India Association of St. Louis (IAS) has announced it will organize and host its annual "India-Nite" program on Saturday, December 1 at Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Center (MGC). A cultural program extravaganza will highlight the event.

It will showcase Indian folk, ethnic, classical and popular dances and music programs. Besides the cultural program the event comprises some food and merchandize sale and is an annual membership drive for the India Association.

This annual event is an eagerly awaited event of the Diwali season and is attended by a large number of groups of the South-Asian American community of the St. Louis area. All the India association functions are open for all those interested in promotion or participation in the cultural activities. In addition to adult participation, parents encourage their children from ages three onwards to exhibit their talent such as music, dance and other art forms.

MGC will also host their annual general body meeting to take suggestions from their membership. MGC provides a venue for not only India Association activities, and other Indian regional organizations but also for the communities of greater St. Louis area.

The other major upcoming event which is jointly hosted by MGC and India Association is the New Year's Eve program to be held on December 31, where every year the community gathers and jointly welcomes the New Year.
