BAPS honors ex-Consul Gen Arun Kumar
Sunday, 03.25.2007, 11:27pm (GMT-7)

CHICAGO: "I'm always with you in my thoughts, heart, and presence." Arun Kumar left well-wishers with these words after addressing a crowd of over 1500 at the BAPS Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Bartlett. BAPS held a special 'farewell' assembly on March 11 to honor and appreciate Arun Kumar's tenure as Consul General.

Lauding his dedication to society, Dr Yashwant Amin said, "Arun Kumar has done an incredible job in representing India. India is growing. He has done much research on how to develop India further. Development has not just been in business, but Arun Kumar has focused on education as well. He loves his country and cherishes the values taught by India.

He has an amazing commitment to his community. He has always participated in all small and big events and organizations. He has supported BAPS through every celebration. So we thank him and congratulate him for a job well done." BAPS Chicago religious head saint, P. Vivekmurti Swami, said, "It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice. It is not important how long we live, but how we live. Arun Kumar is such a man.

He has successfully tried to be a positive figure in society. We thank him for helping us and other Indian organizations." Arun Kumar acclaimed BAPS as a great organization not only for its services to the community but for its many activities and events that help to maintain and preserve Indian culture and Hindu heritage. He commended P Vivekmurti Swami on his ability to lead the BAPS Chicago establishment, adding, "He brings this temple to the glory it deserves not only to Chicago, but the whole world.

All the volunteers have worked so hard. From the drawing board to what it is today, it is because of the volunteers' hard work."
