Mardana Institute observes Bahadur Singh anniversary

MONTCLAIR: An evening of classical music at the Vedic Temple here marked the 41st death anniversary of Vedic Ustad Bahadur Singh. Organized by the Bhai Mardana Institute of Sikh Music the program brought together the finest from not just all over the United States but also from Pakistan and India. Over 200 specially invited guests attended the event.Young kids gave the veteran ustads a good run for their money in their rendition of ragas and alaaps.

The Chana brothers came all the way from Connecticut. Other artistes came from the Bay Area and elsewhere.Coming all the way from Lahore was Ustad Ikebal Hussain. He not only performed vocal but also enthralled the audience with his violin performance. Local artist Charanjeet Singh sang ghazals whilst Seema Sagar performed vocals. Ashis Ali Khan, son of the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan regaled the audience with his Sarod.The program ended around 11pm after dinner.
