India Heritage Scholarship Awards on May 4

LOS ANGELES: The 22nd Annual India Heritage Scholarship Awards function will be held at 4.30 pm, Sunday, May 4, at Golden Sails Hotel, 6285 East Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach. There will be youth achievements celebration, entertainment and gala dinner Those eligible are students, with one or both parents of Asian Indian origin, graduating in year 2008 from High/Middle school in Southern California. The last date for the receipt of completed applications is April 21.

For High School Category, there are fourteen scholarship awards -- eight for academic excellence, four for outstanding achievements and two special awards -- as follows:There will be Academic Excellence Awards as follows: 1st $2000, 2nd $1000, 3rd $750, and 5 of $500 each. The First Place Winner will also receive "Profiles in Excellence" Revolving Trophy For Outstanding Achievement Awards, High School Graduates can win $500 and a revolving trophy in each of the following: Sports, Math, Science & Technology, Visual & Performing Arts, and Community Service.

There will be Special Awards of $100/each for Perfect score in Quiz and $100/each for Perfect score in SATFor Outstanding Achievements Awards, minimum grade requirement is C.For Academic Excellence Awards, minimum grade requirement is B. Middle/Junior Category For the Middle/Junior high school Category, there are six scholarship awards -- five for academic excellence, one for outstanding achievements in Visual and Performing Arts as follows: 1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $150 and 2 of $100 each.

The First Place Winner will also receive "IAHF Founders" Revolving Trophy $250 and India Heritage Plaque for Visual & Performing ArtsFor outstanding achievements award in Visual and Performing Arts, minimum grade requirement is C. For academic excellence awards, minimum grade requirement is B.
