CHICAGO: There was a progressive political spirit in the Ramada Inn banquets with an estimated gathering of about 400 members. The Eighth District Democrats and Independents (EDDI), a nine year old organization for Responsive and responsible government in Illinois, held a meeting at Ramada inn in Wukeegan, a Chicago suburb, on March 4.

It was attended by 400 members. The highlight of the meet was to review and raise the momentum of the organization and discuss ways on achieving a new level of success. Master of ceremony was Lauren Beth Gash who introduced the newly elected committee members.Nancy Shepherdson, Chairperson, Susan McKnight, Vice-chair person, Olivia Lasko secretary and Jackie Slusser Treasurer of the Eight District Democrats and Independent "EDDI" hosted the party.

Keynote was addressed by Nancy Shepherdson who focused on civil rights, Constitution, checks and balances of what's happening since the Republicans took control of the White House and Congress. Activist Mujeeb Osman shared his views and experience, that his own community is not serious about the political process.

"The twenty-fourth amendment of the US constitution guides us. It is our individual duty and responsibility to seek out and support honest, humble, educated and wise leaders. It's our privilege to utilize the right as an US citizen to vote and help bring positive changes in our nation." Gash announced Senator Terry Link Re-elected as county democratic chair, Mellissa Bean for Congresswoman, Eighth District Illinois.

Notable among the attendees were candidate for State Senate, Congress, State Rep., Circuit Court Judge, educators, senior politicians and businessmen.
