Holi celebrated at Manav Seva Mandir

CHICAGO: The festival of Holi was celebrated at Manav Seva Mandir last month in the presence of hundreds of devotees. In spite of snow and cold weather, the volunteers erected Holika by stacking wooden pieces in the ancient Hindu tradition and Holi was ignited outside the temple.

Devotees were seen worshipping and circling around Holi. While a stream of people kept coming to have darshan, Bhajans were continuously recited inside the temple. A program of Kavi Sammelan was organized in the evening. More than 15 poets presented their poems, mostly related to worshiping God and about religion. After arti, Mahaprasad was served to more than 800 devotees, who happily dispersed late in the night.

The next program of Ramayan Path and Ramnavmi will be from Sunday, April 6 thru Saturday, April 13. Ramayan Path will be recited every day in the evenings and Ramnavmi will be celebrated on Sunday, April 13 at 11-00 am. Hanuman Jayanti and Sunderkand Path will be on Saturday, April 19, between 5-00 pm. and 7-30 pm.
