Gaur Purnima celebrations at ISKCON

ST. LOUIS: It was a grand evening with melodious bhajans, sweet drama by children, an enlightening spiritual discourse, a tumultuous sankirtan and a soul satisfying dinner all centered around glorifying Lord Chaitanya.
Lord Chaitanya is deemed to be Krishna Himself appearing as a devotee of the Supreme Lord to spread the chanting of the holy name as the Yuga Dharma for this age of quarrel and hypocrisy. The first civil disobedience in human history was spearheaded by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu against monarchial oppression and he also initiated the first sankirtan party.
This was elegantly enacted by the children of Krishna Balaram School on the stage. Following this, Romapada Swami wonderfully explained why chanting of the holy name is the only way to get delivered from the material bondage in this age of Kali Yuga. With scriptural references, he described that chanting the holy name "Hare Krishna Hare Krisna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare!" is the Yuga Dharma for this age.
Inspired by Swamiji's discourse, many came forward to chant and dance ecstatically during the mega kirtan and tried to recapitulate Lord Chaitanya's sankirtan party. The evening program ended per schedule with a free delicious dinner prasadam from Govinda's, the St. Louis' No. 1 vegetarian restaurant.
