Sinho appointed new AIF CEO
Sunday, 05.04.2008, 10:00pm (GMT-7)

NEW YORK: The American India Foundation (AIF) has appointed Dr Sanjay Sinho as Chief Executive Officer. Dr Sinho will be based out of AIF’s New York office. Dr Sinho joins AIF from CARE USA, where he was the Director of the Health Unit.

He had oversight over a portfolio of over 250 projects in over 50 countries spanning issues of sexual/reproductive health, maternal and child health, infectious disease etc. Dr Sinho is trained as a pediatrician and a sociologist and has over 24 years of experience in public health. He worked with CARE India before 1999, when he relocated to the United States to join CARE USA.

Announcing Dr Sinho’s appointment, Victor Menezes, Co-Chair of the AIF Board, said, "We are delighted to have Sanjay join us and are confident that the experience he brings in developing and managing large-scale programs in India and internationally will take AIF to new heights." AIF’s founding President, Lata Krishnan, and Executive Director, Pradeep Kashyap, will relinquish their executive roles and become Vice-Chairs of the Board of Directors.

They have both served as full-time staff of the organization on a voluntary basis since its inception. Welcoming Dr Sinho to AIF, Krishnan said, "Pradeep and I remain committed as ever to serving the marginalized in India, to AIF and to Sanjay in supporting him in our Board roles at AIF." Dr Sinho joins the recently appointed senior leadership team at AIF, that includes Chief Operating Officer, Kris Dasgupta, and the West Coast Regional Director, Ethan Veneklasen.

"I am excited about the depth of experience and passion that the AIF team brings to the development space in India," Dr Sinho said. "We are all deeply grateful for the solid foundation that Lata and Pradeep have laid for us, and we are now poised to scale up AIF’s work across India significantly and deepen our engagement of Americans who care deeply about India."

Aiming to accelerate social and economic change in India by mobilizing people and resources in the United States, AIF has invested in over 100 Indian non-governmental organizations since its inception in 2001.
