ST. LOUIS: The Fourth annual Health Fair organized jointly by the Indian Medical Council, Mahatma Gandhi Center and the Hindu Temple of St. Louis was held on Saturday, May 3 from 9 pm to 2 pm at Mahatma Gandhi Center.
The Fair met with great success as hundreds of people flocked to share the services provided by medical personnel for checking their health and prescribing medicine. The service included a general check up, free blood test for Lipid, blood sugar and PSA for males.
Specialties are EKG with cardiologist interpretation, bone densitometry for Osteoporosis screening. There was an additional service this year for Podiatry. Total number of people attending the fair was over 200. Blood tests were performed on 160 persons.
Pharmaceutical companies provided pens and many educational items for diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases and cancel. Koman Foundation registered for free mammogram. There was an optional tour of the Hindu Temple available.
Over fifty physicians and non-physicians were involved with the Health Fair rendering free services. One of the patients who took part in the Health Fair called and said "It was very well organized and very well run.
Every one was very helpful, polite, and did a fine job" The Humanitarian Committee of the Hindu Temple and the Hindu Temple Youth Group are now looking forward to planning next year's Health Fair.
