RIVERSIDE: Riverside's Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir celebrated Mother's Day in a very special way. While the All-World Gayatri Pariwar recited Gayatri Mantra and sang bhajans, Mandir members generously signed up to become bone marrow donors.
About 200 devotees enjoyed listening to Pariwar singers Niki Bhatt, Pragya Sharma, Payal Patel and Kiran Pandya and musicians Sidharth Oza, Mohan Gupta, Ikshwaku Oza and Rajubhai Patel. When children were asked to speak about their mothers, many youngsters came forward and had a lot of loving things to say.
Each child was later thanked by Mandir officials and given a gift certificate. Members of the All-World Gayatri Pariwar were also thanked with gifts. The Bone Marrow Donor representatives reported a very successful day.
Mandir President Kishore Sehgal gave a brief history of Mother's Day and also reminded Mandir members that "This year billions of dollars will be spent on Mother's Day gifts but the real gift is remembering your mother not only on this day but every day."
The event concluded with arati followed by lunch. It was wonderful to see the smiling faces of the many mothers as they left carrying their special gift of a single pink carnation tied with a pretty bow.
