NEW YORK: Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji of Mysore, India will perform in a 'Meditation and Healing' concert at the Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in New York on July 19. In the concert, Swamiji will be playing ayurvedic healing ragas on an electronic synthesizer accompanied by musicians on Indian classical instruments along with internationally renowned violinist Dr L. Subramaniam.

Several important personalities from across the United States and other parts of the world are expected to experience this wonderful and rare opportunity. Swamiji is famous for his mystical powers to heal people through his spiritual music.

His music is devotional and used for spiritual energy transmission. Listening to his 'Healing and Meditation' music is a melodic medicine prescribed by Swamiji for all ailments and conditions. "The music therapy is combined with ayurveda, psychology, gemotherapy, mantra, and astrology," says Swamiji.

Each melody has been inspired through Raga Ragini Vidya, an ancient tradition revived by Swamiji. By accessing the yogic wisdom of this tradition and blending the classic art of raga with references to contemporary music from all cultures, Swamiji dives into the cosmic ocean of Nada (sound).

From the endless combination of possibilities, he creates music that affects various naadis (energy channels) and awakens the prana (life force) energy pulsating within each of us. Having his headquarters in Mysore, Swamiji has established many ashrams and has devotees around the world spreading the message of peace.

Swamiji also supports several social projects and has setup hospitals and schools in India to help the poor and needy. In Trinidad, he has installed an 85-ft Hanuman statue, the tallest one outside India, in the Datta temple.

He has earlier performed on several occasions in India, United States, Europe, Canada and other countries. As part of Guru Purnima celebrations 2008, Swamiji will be participating in spiritual programs and other public functions from 17-20 July in New Jersey.
