Pak Sikh community leaders to visit So Cal

India Post News Service TUSTIN: S Bishan Singh, President of the Pakistan Sikh Gurudwra Prabandhak Committee accompanied by Dr Swaran Singh, Vice President, are currently here in So Cal at the invitation of the IIGS.They are expected to address the So Cal Sangat at different Gurudwaras.
They will brief the Sangat on the progress of the Pakistani Sikh Community and also talk of religious tourism opportunities in Pakistan.Pakistan has a deep rooted connection with Sikh history. Some of Sikhism's holiest shrines like Nankana Sahib, Punja sahib etc. are in Pakistan. Totally, there are about sixteen historic Gurdwaras in Pakistan.The Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Committee is based at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore.Sikhs in Pakistan are about thirty thousand strong and extremely successful as businessmen, professionals and farmers. Recently Harcharan Singh of Nankana Sahib was the first Sikh to be commissioned in the Pakistan Army. Many Sikhs have been elected to public positions in Pakistan. Overall the Sikh community in Pakistan considers itself as an integral part of Pakistani society.
