Goddess Limbach Ujani celebration

CHICAGO: Devotees of Goddess Limbach from across Chicagoland, Atlanta, St. Louis and others parts of USA flocked to the now famous mini-India town on Devon Avenue in Chicago last week to take part in the 501 Lamp Arati Patosav of the Goddess Limbach in Gozaria town in Gujarat.

The four-hour program was well organized by the Nani Chhasath Limbach Samaj. It had a good mix of religious fervor and entertainment. The young artists provided an entertaining program of dance and music while the adults and the old ones excelled with their unstinted devotion to the Goddess Limbach considered Kul Devi for Limbach Samaj.

The celebration in Chicago synchronized with the Patosav celebration of the Goddess Limbach  and all those present were thrilled to have a video presentation of the Gozria Patosav. The sponsors of the program were family members of Sharma family  headed by Gangaben Nathuram Sharma of Delvada.

The president of the Samaj Dilipbhai Parekh and Secretary Sunilbhai Sharma conducted the program successfully with good support from the young members of the society. Speakers briefed all those present about the   Samaj - its activities and history, and underlined the importance of this celebration.

The theme of the cultural program was Dance Pe Chance Mar Lena and it was the youth of the Samaj who stole the limelight. The Slum Dog Jai Ho song evoked enthusiastic response with Once More plea.

All the participants were given gifts. There was also al Lucky Draw and it was well received. The culmination was the traditional Gujarati Garba eulogizing the devotion toe the Goddess. Young and old participated actively in the Garba Alkesh Limbach and Hitesh Sharma provided DJ music.
