AAPI honors Dr Parikh & Dr Mansukhani with Special Award
Monday, 05.21.2007, 03:26am (GMT-7)

PHILADELPHIA: The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), an apex organization representing Indian doctors in the United States, has honored two eminent Indian American physicians - Dr Sudhir Parikh and Dr H Mansukhani - with Special Awards in recognition of their services to the community and commitment to medicine.

The occasion was a grand celebration of twenty five year of existence of this premiere ethnic India body at Hotel Marriott in Philadelphia. The event was graced by representatives from all over North America besides special guests from India. Dr Sudhir Parikh is noted for his philanthropic activities besides lending helping hand to needy back home in India.

He is a practicing Consulting Allergist in the United States. He has received international acclaim in the treatment of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and is listed in the Who's Who in America in the Field of Medicine. Dr Mansukhani represents Asian Indian Professionals, Philadelphia, South Jersey.

Accepting the honor, Dr Parikh said "it is certainly a very humbling moment to receive this award from an organization that I have seen grow from strength to strength over the past 25 years. My commitment to AAPI and to the cause of healthcare and medicine remains strong as ever." AAPI, with a large membership base, is billed as one of the most powerful organizations that lobby with the US government on issues affecting doctors, especially those of Indian origins, and health care in general. Dr Parikh has served as a Patron Trustee of AAPI Charitable Foundation.

Dr Parikh, MD, is also a recipient of Ellis Island Medals of Honor 2005 for his lifetime of community service. He was also awarded Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, the highest civilian honor bestowed on Non Resident Indians (NRIs) by the Indian Government.
