NEW YORK: The Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, USA, (HSS) released a book entitled, "M.S. Golwalkar: His Vision and Mission" at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York, on Sept 26. The book is a compilation of selected thoughts of M.S. Golwalkar, the second Sarsanghchalak (President) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
He is affectionately known as "Shri Guruji" among the volunteers, friends and families of RSS worldwide. The book provides the reader an insight into Golwalkar's vision on the Hindu worldview, the wellbeing of humanity, and the eternal principles of Dharma. It also offers guiding principles for workers engaged in social causes.
The book release ceremony was organized by Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, which owes its inspiration to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, in the presence of chief guest Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, General Secretary of RSS, India and Prof. Ved Nanda, President of HSS, USA. A veterinary doctor by education, Bhagwat has dedicated himself entirely to the service of society. Since 1973 he has been a pracharak (full time worker) of the RSS.
An audience of 250 invitees and media representatives attended the event that included lighting of the ceremonial lamp as a cultural symbol for the beginning of the event.Prof. Ved Nanda spoke about the impact of RSS and Shri Guruji, emphasizing that the values advocated by the Sangh are not limited to any group but are applicable to entire humanity. Bhagwat said that Shri Guruji's message was to protect and widely disseminate the eternal values of Dharma and to organize Hindus so as to enable them to work incessantly for the wellbeing of humanity.
Shri Guruji has given clear guidance on conduct towards one's family, the nation, and humanity.Bhagwat further emphasized that the book provokes one into thinking beyond one's own selfishness and trying to live a Dharmic way of conduct by practicing its eternal values in day to day life, individually and collectively. Hindu dharma is a continuous process of search for the eternal and the absolute through one's own perception of the world around, as propounded by Shri Guruji. The event was concluded with the song, "Vande Mataram".
HSS is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to preserving Hindu Dharma and its Dharmic roots in the society. HSS runs "Balagokulam" program for children throughout the US to impart Hindu cultural values to children. It also runs programs for youth and parents that focus on integral personality development (physical, intellectual, social and spiritual). HSS has over 110 chapters across the US.
