$50k raised at Balaji Temple fund raiser

 San Jose: A cultural program called "Bhakti Kala Sagar", was organized by devotees to raise funds for the Balaji temple which is to be built in the city. The sold out hall full of audience enjoyed a 5 hour program of prayer, song, dance and satsang which made the event a success. People from all walks of life and far away places attended the event.

The function commenced with Head Priest Sri Narayana Swamiji decorating the radiant statue of Lord Hanumanji and seating him in the beautiful chariot (Ratha) during the chanting of the sacred religious mantras. The Ratha Yatra procession began from the new temple site and proceeded to the cultural event site at George Mayne Elementary School, Alviso.

The traditional lamp was lighted by Cortese, Vice Mayor of San Jose and Priyanka Goel and a prayer by Sri Narayanji, followed by releasing of Souvenir of Balaji Temple. The Mayor gave an inspiring speech honoring the values of non-violence and unity in Hinduism. He also welcomed Balaji Temple to San Jose and said the city was looking forward to Balaji Temple being built because it would be good for both the temple as well as the community and the relationship would promote peace, unity and goodwill.

The Mistress of ceremonies took charge presenting wonderful array of classical performances starting with prayer songs by children of Bala Kendra of Balaji Temple. Shaunak Adkar gave solo performance on tabla. The highlight of the evening was a performance by well known Hindustani vocalist Nachiketa Sharma, accompanied by his students and Ravi Gutala besides Vijay, who played the harmonium. A standing ovation was received by the trio.

After the song and dance Lakshmi Vittala Dasi gave a short speech on her thoughts about God and worship.Subsequently, Sri Narayana Swami addressed the audience with an inspiring speech on "God is one, All are one" {Ekam sat vipra bahuda vadanti}.

He reminded the audience that God is our Eternal father and mother and that the most important spiritual law is to have gratitude to the one who is behind everything.Inspired by Narayana Swamiji's speech devotees came forward with checks of donations to the Balaji Temple including Ramana Reddys who presented a check for $13k followed by Krishna Reddy with a check for $10k.The total for the evening exceeded $50,000k.
