Deccan Social Club launched

CHICAGO: The much awaited Deccan Social Club was finally launched last Friday at a glittering fund raising event held at Ramada Hotel in Glendale Heights, a North West side Chicago suburb. The Club will have its headquarters on Devon Avenue, a well known hub of Indian and Pakistani businesses.Iftekhar Shareef, the President of Federation of Indian Associations, is one of the Directors of the Club.

He said that this DSC will cater to the growing needs of Hyderabadis in Chicago. It will have a fully equipped gym, large screen TVs, indoor games, nice size bedrooms for visiting members from Nizam Club of Hyderabad. Shareef said this facility will have over 8000 sq ft. of space on the second floor of a building on Devon Ave which currently is a hang around place for all Hyderabadis.Shareef said that this is a non political club where members could bring their families irrespective of their religion, caste or gender and meet their old lost friends.

Alcohol and gambling will not be permitted, he said.The Board of directors nominated first executive committee of DSC with Masood Shah Khan as President, Jaffer Ali Khan as V.P, Wasifullah Quadri as Secretary, Shakeel Kazmi as Joint Secretary and Mujeeb Rahman as Treasurer Iftekhar Shareef said that around 300 Deccanis attended the event, Hindus, Muslims and Christians included. Mukarrum Mehmmod along with his orchestra gave a good performance including some old hit memories. Wasifullah thanked all the attendees and announced Life Honorary Membership to the media present on this event.
