Radha Krishna Mandir celebrates Patotsava
Wednesday, 08.08.2007, 04:02am (GMT-7)

LOS ANGELES: Radha Krishna Mandir is the oldest Mandir in California. Recently it celebrated the 25th Patotsava with holy and joyful activities. All this was possible with the efforts of Bharatbhai Shastriji and Naliniben Rajgor and of course very strong support and presence of the President of the Mandir Ajitbhai Mithaiwala and his wife Tinben Mithaiwala.

Others who joined in the efforts were Pravinbhai Patel, Bhavanjibhai Patel, Rekhaben Bajaria and Amitbhai Desai. Naliniben made arrangements for Shri Mahapurusottam Yagna, Shri Satya Narayan Katha, Shrimad Bhagvad Saptah and last but not the least Maha Abhishek of all gods. Starting with Mahapurusottam Yagna, over 200 Bal Vihar kids participated in this yagna. Bharatbhai Shastriji explained the ceremony in detail. Naliniben demonstrated all mudras during the pooja which made it really simple and interesting for even children.

The yagna was followed by Satya Narayan Katha. Over 400 people participated in this pooja and enjoyed the Katha by Bharatbhai Shashtriji. July 15 to July 22 was Shrimad Bhagvad Saptah celebration. Over 500 people attended Katha every evening. Bharatbhai Shashtriji narrated the Katha with lots of emotion.

The bhajans and music added to the effect. Amazing decorations were created denoting Krishna's Birth, Goverdhan Mahotasava and Krishna Vivah by Naliniben Rajor. The sets looked very much real.

On the last day of Katha "Viram" day, Annakut was arranged with over 100 sweet and salty home made recipes. The Abhishek with Panchamrut and Kesarjal of all gods was arranged on Viram day. Over 1000 people did the Abhishek which included little babies.

Older people, some of whom even had difficulty walking, were helped by Mandir sevaks to make sure they can participate in Abhishek. Followers offered over $50,000 and the President of the Mandir Ajitbhai Mithaiwala and his wife Tinaben Mithaiwala promised to match the same amount donation. The evening ended with Dandiya Ras.
