NORWALK, CA: Gauri-Vrat festival is held from July 28 to August 1. During these five days young girls fast and do pooja. They can take fruit, wheat flour, ghee and milk without salt. During these days a pooja ceremony was held at Shri Radha Krishna Temple, Norwalk every morning from 10 to 12. Poojas were performed by Bharatbhai Shastriji and Naliniben B. Rajgor.
On August 1, the last day of the Vrat, almost 350 girls got together to perform pooja from 5 pm to 7 pm. They worship Gauri Mata and also Shankar Bhagwan. Bharatbhai Shastriji has been arranging such holy events since the last 13 years as Head Priest of Shri Radhakrishna Temple. On August 1, all girls do "Parna", that is giving up the fast in front of deity.
