CHICAGO: ISKCON Chicago Hare Krishna Temple will celebrate Sri Krishna Janmashtami on Tuesday, September 4, beginning 5 pm. The program will include bhajans and arati, Sunday school presentation, Krishna Lila satsang, Maha-Abhishek, Krishna janma (birth), mid-night Maha-arati, and Maha Prasadam.The day after the birth of Sri Krishna is called Parna (meaning a swing -- as child Krishna is swung in a swing).

The day of Parna is also the appearance day of Srila Prabhupada. It is celebrated as "Vyas-Puja". The celebration on Wednesday, September 5 will begin at 9:30 am and will include Glorification of Srila Prabhupada, Abhishek and Pushpanjali (flower offering), arati and kirtan, and Maha Prasadam.ISKCON was founded by AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1966 in New York.
