LOS ANGELES: Sri Lanka Foundation is finalizing its plans for the second annual Sri Lanka Day Expo 2007 scheduled for Saturday August 25. The Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica is the repeat venue with the success it was last year.

Within this main event are five sub-events. A Food Court on the 1300 Block between Santa Monica Blvd. and Arizona, on-stop live entertainment by Sri Lankan artistes, exhibition and sale of ethnic arts and crafts. A parade of the early entrants to the Miss Sri Lanka and Teen Pageants has been arranged. The added interest is their attire which is worn by the rural Sri Lankan women. Lastly, the "Perahara" the name given to a procession such as you will witness. Drummers, dancers, groups of children in traditional costumes culminates the day's entertainment.

A jam session for dancing on the promenade is another promise. All this is free to the public weather you are Sri Lankan or Not.The Sri Lanka Foundation is the premier community based Sri Lankan Organization in Southern California, dedicated to bringing the expatriate community under a single umbrella to help each other within the community while extending a friendly hand to its non-Sri Lankan friends of all communities in the region.
