'Public, private health institutions should network'
Monday, 12.17.2007, 01:45am (GMT-7)

NEW DELHI: Observing that modern technologies can play a useful role in improving the quality of medical education, Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said the public and private health institutions must network and complement each other.

"Modern information technologies like internet, interactive CDs, teleconferencing can play a useful role in improving the quality of postgraduate medical education," he said at a function here.

"The public and private health institutions must network and compliment each other in selected health-related issues. I hope the National Board of Examinations (NBE)-accredited institutions in the private sector will take a lead in this area," he said.

"NBE has taken special measures to increase the expertise for the medical graduates in the family medicine discipline which is aimed to provide comprehensive services to our communities, especially in rural areas," he said inaugurating the Board's new office complex at Dwarka here.
