Panel submits stem cell guidelines
Wednesday, 05.09.2007, 09:21pm (GMT-7)

NEW DELHI: A government panel, set up to frame stem cell guidelines in a bid to regulate research activity in this emerging sector, has submitted the final guidelines to the Health Ministry.

"We have submitted the final guidelines on stem cell to the Health Ministry," said Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) Director General N K Ganguly, who headed the panel.

Government had set up a committee comprising experts from ICMR and the Department of Biotechnology in 2005 to frame National Guidelines for Stem Cell Research and Therapy in a bid to regulate research activity in this emerging sector.
