IADO supports Congressional candidate Quigley

CHICAGO: Several Board Members of the Indian American Democratic Organization (IADO) met with Mike Quigley,

the 5th Congressional District Democratic Nominee, in his office in Chicago to brief him about IADO's mission and role in the Indian community as also to extend its support to him in the forthcoming election.

Dr Ram Gajjela, IADO president said that his is a 30-year-old, well-established organization. "One of our goals is to promote the participation of Indian Americans in the American political process." He offered Quigley IADO's active support for his April 7 election.

IADO Vice-President Ashish Sen asked  Quigley to consider joining the House Caucus on India and Indian Americans. Board Member Lakshmi Lakshmanan noted the importance of comprehensive immigration reform and its importance to the South Asian population.

Other topics discussed included the placement of IADO-supported interns in Quigley's office and the need for the US to promote peace and stability in South Asia.
Quigley asked IADO to meet with him periodically to brief him on issues and concerns of the South Asian population so that he can appropriately address those issues in Congress.  'IADO looks forward to working with future Representative Mike Quigley,' Ram Gajjela said after the meeting. Quigley is expected to become the next Congressman from the district that was previously represented by Rahm Emanuel, now President Obama's Chief of Staff. 

Present on the occasion along with Dr Gajjela were Pramod Shah, Dr Ashish Sen, Dr Ann Lata Kalayil, Sainath Reddivari, Daniel Biss, and Lakshmi Lakshmanan
