ITASCA: The Midwest Swaminarayan Temple in Itasca has slated its annual Health Fair on Sunday, September 30 from 8:15 to 11 am. The Health Fair is in league with Indian American Medical Association, Lohana Association of Greater Chicago and Gujarat Samaj, Chicago.

The health check-up will be free and open to all devotees. There is no limit on the number of patients and everyone will be provided the necessary services. The free health screening will include checking blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol for every patient. ECG tests will be done as recommended by the doctors. Blood samples will be drawn also as recommended by the doctors. Med Star Laboratories will perform the blood analysis.

The doctors will review each blood test result and with the doctors' remarks, the test reports will be mailed to each patient. In addition to the above, there will be dental examination, eye check up, bone density test, urine analysis and foot testing.

At the beginning and end of these tests, every patient will be seen by a licensed physician for appropriate medical advice. Medicines will be provided as available. Approximately 30 physicians and health care professionals will provide their volunteer services for the Health Fair.

Some of the renowned doctors volunteering include Dr Parag Majmudar, Dr Umang Patel, Dr Ghanshyam Thakkar, Dr Nita Patel, and Dr Ashok Shah. 12 hours fasting is recommended for the blood tests and hence, those keen for blood tests should not have any food or drinks after 8 pm the previous day.
