Court dismisses cheque bouncing case against Dharmendra, Sunny Deol
Thursday, 10.11.2007, 03:38am (GMT-7)

CHENNAI: A city court has dismissed a cheque dishonor case against popular Bollywood star and BJP MP Dharmendra and his son and actor Sunny Deol. Metropolitan Magistrate C Thirumagal dismissed the case "as withdrawn" after the complainant took back his complaint.

The court had on September 12 issued summons to the father-son duo to appear before the court. However, when the case came up for hearing, the complainant appeared in person before the court and filed a petition seeking permission to withdraw the complaint.

In his complaint, R Bhagavandoss Bajaj, proprietor of Sheela Enterprises and Associates, had submitted that in April 2006, Ajay Singh Deol, on behalf of his company Sunny Sounds, had borrowed Rs 10 lakh to complete Hindi film "Big Brother".

He had promised to repay the amount to the petitioner after the movie's release. However, when the two cheques for Rs 5 lakh each issued by Deol were presented for payment, they were allegedly returned unpaid as the account holder had made a stop payment request. Following this, Bajaj sent a legal notice on June 6, 2007 to the directors of the company, which also included actor Dharmendra.
