Indian nationals with drug arrested
Monday, 02.19.2007, 08:20pm (GMT-7)

Two Indian nationals were arrested by the Malaysian police at the International Airport here after unprocessed hallucinating drug Ketamine worth almost Rs one crore was allegedly seized from them.

Both could face the death penalty if found guilty of possessing the drug.

The two men arrived on separate flights but the Customs Department here has not dismissed the possibility that they could have links, The New Straits Times said.

Both were reported to be businessmen from Chennai. The first arrest was made shortly after the 34-year-old arrived at the Kuala Lumpur international airport from Singapore.

“His body language gave him away. His movements were so unnatural. But I don’t want to elaborate on strategies used to detect smugglers,” Customs director-general Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid said.

Officers found 15 kg of ketamine packed in 40 boxes in his bag. About two hours later, officers checked a 27-year-old who arrived from Bangkok.

They found 27 one kg packets of ketamine in two bags. There were no clothes in his bag either.

The two are being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act. They face the death penalty if found guilty.-PTI
