FIA urges AP CM to help domestic abuse victims
Sunday, 11.04.2007, 10:07pm (GMT-7)

HYDERABAD: Iftekhar Shareef President, Federation of Indian Association (FIA) Chicago, called upon the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr Y.S Rajashekara Reddy at his Secretariat chamber to update him with the problems of NRI's hailing from AP especially living in USA.

One of the main concerns voiced by Shareef was about the domestic abuses faced by spouses of H1B visa holders, especially after the IT boom.

He urged the chief Minister to work closely not only with US authorities but also with the other State governments in the Indian Union for evolving a common policy to address the issue.

Chief Minister wished all the Telugus and non-Telugus a very happy Dasera, Depavali and Happy Eid. Shareef congratulated the CM on his recent successfully representing India in The World Agriculture Conference held at St. Louis.

He also congratulated CM for bringing ATA, TANA, Muslims and Christians from AP under one platform of Secularism in a recent Banquet Reception held in Chicago at Rosemont Convention Center.

On behalf of FIA, Shareef invited the CM for a jointly held Dasera,Diwali-Eid party to be held in Hyderabad in the first week of November.
