Govt extends term of E-panel on courts

NEW DELHI: In an effort to boost computerization of the judicial system in the country, the Centre decided to extend the tenure of the E-Committee set up to monitor the implementation of the ongoing E-Courts Project.

The extension of the term of the E-Committee up to February 2009 or till it completed its work, was approved by the Union Cabinet at its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The term of the panel was to have ended on January six this year.

Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters that the Cabinet also approved modifications in the selection and appointment of Chairman and members of the E-Committee.
