Haryana leads in income tax collections Sunday, 01.13.2008, 11:08pm (GMT-7) CHANDIGARH: Haryana state has outshined three states and one union territory namely Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh in respect of income tax collections. The tax collections in Haryana alone has grown to Rs 3,550 crore while collections from other states -- Punjab, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir - merely stood at Rs 2,584 crore as on December 31, 2007 for the current fiscal. While the overall income tax collections from all these states, falling in the jurisdiction of North West Region (NWR), has zoomed to Rs 6,435 crore during the first nine months of current fiscal against collections of Rs 4,320 crore in corresponding period of last fiscal, as per data collected from Income Tax Department. Significantly, Haryana occupies highest share of 55 percent in total income tax collections from NWR and remaining share of collection comprised three states and one union territory. PTI
