Largest garment fair from July 9

MUMBAI: The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) will organize its 49th National Garment Fair from July 9 to 11, at Bombay Exhibition Center, NSC Complex, Goregaon (East), Mumbai. This fair will be the garment industry's largest event of the year.

The garment fair will be spread over 25,000 sq. meters in two halls - Hall I & Hall 5 of Bombay Exhibition Center. More than 250 companies representing more than 400 brands shall display their collections. The fair will have sections like Power Brands, Brand Avenue, Brand Wagon, Man's World, Bold and Beautiful, Little Kingdom etc.

There will be also a Franchising Zone, which will help to connect prospective franchises with established national & international brands. More than 18,000 visitors are expected to come to this fair, despite the fact that it is restricted to garment dealers only. National Garment Fair will host 6 ramp shows (fashion shows).

There will be 2 shows per day for consecutive three days. CMAI's "Apex Awards 2008" night will be held at on July 9, the first night of the 49th National Garment Fair. The awards will be presented in 27 categories, during the glittering function. Rahul Mehta, President CMAI and the Vice President-Asian Apparel Federation, stated that local garment industry has been passing through a rough phase but despite that an overall growth rate of is maintained.

On the export front, export is down by 10 percent in rupee terms but it is 2 percent up in dollar terms. Presently, export prospects have improved as rupee has weakened against US dollar. KITE Fair Another international fair will be held at the same venue in December. The three day mega event, Kapol International Trade Fair "KITE - 2008" will be held from December 19 to 21, at the same place. The admission to this Mega event is free.

KITE is the largest international organization of Kapol businessmen, industrialists & professionals. The object of this event is to achieve growth in business by active cooperation, mutual help and collaboration, in various fields like manufacturing, trade professional services etc. K.D. Vora, Praneta-KITE & Chairman of Kapol Cooperative Bank Ltd. informed that the fair will be on a very wide canvas, spread over 20 lakhs sq. ft. with more than 450 stalls of Kapol businessmen from diverse field representing varied trade, industries and services will be represented in this mega trade fair. There will be business and food stalls, gaming zones, cultural and entertainment programs as well as business seminars.

For entertainment of visitors, an award night, fashion show and a Falguni Pathak Night have been arranged. Vinesh T. Mehta- President, KITE stated that a huge, unique Vaishnav Museum created in the fair will be the biggest attraction for the visitors. The huge museum, which will be spread over 50,000 sq. ft., will have replica of Shreenathji Temple, Girirajji as well as temples of various Kapol Kuldevi and Kuldevta for worship as well as darshan along with history and books on Kapol community.

Prakash C. Sheth, Vice President, KITE & Head of Yellow Pages Committee of Kite informed that during the event, KITE has planned to publish Kapol Yellow Pages of international standard, for the first time ever in the history of Kapol Community.
