Health ministry to fund Ayurveda university
Sunday, 06.29.2008, 10:36pm (GMT-7)

SHIMLA: The Union Health Ministry has agreed to fund an exclusive ayurveda university in Himachal Pradesh provided the state government enacts a law to this effect.

"The Centre is ready to fund the establishment of such a university in the hill state if the state government is willing to enact a law for the purpose," Advisor to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, S K Sharma said.

He said the ministry had also proposed setting up a pharmacy and ayurveda nursing college under the National Rural Health Mission if the state government was interested as this would cater to the shortage of trained personnel.

Sharma said Himachal Pradesh had already been sanctioned Rs 20 crore for the next five years under the mission considering its "potentiality in the medicinal plant sector."
