Trust broken during 'trust-vote'
Tuesday, 07.29.2008, 11:31pm (GMT-7)

India Post News Service

NEW DELHI: Nothing can be done about chameleons changing colors. But, when it comes to human beings, a change of color can lead you into the worst of problems. This is what happened after members of parliament, defying their own parties in the recent trust vote.

The members of parliament, who did not play fair to their own parties during the trust vote, were put to immediate action. 8 BJP members, 2 MDMK members, 2 JD(U) members, and one member each of Shiv Sena, Akali Dal, TDP, BJD and JD(S) were expelled for not following their parties' votes and voting for the UPA government.

The fate of these 17 members stands in the hands of the Lok Sabha speaker, Somnath Chatterjee. But, ironically he himself has been expelled from his party, CPI(M). But, he will continue as the speaker of the Lok Sabha. What a paradox! A major trust breaking session during the trust vote!
