NEW DELHI: As the BJP targeted Amar Singh on the 'cash for votes' episode, the Congress dubbed the saffron party as "king of stings" and sought to dismiss the sting operation by a TV channel as "a fiction without a shred of evidence".

"BJP is the king of stings. It is on the receiving end of stings as the Tehelka episode has shown its president receiving money. BJP has full knowledge about corruption and dirty tricks," said Congress spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan, indicating that the saffron party had a role in it.

"We totally reject with contempt, the new allegation of the BJP as a desperate attempt of bad losers," Natarajan said.

The remarks of the ruling party came on a day when BJP gave documentary evidence in support of its contention and a joint press conference was held by SP leaders Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh along with RJD's Lalu Prasad Yadav and LJP's Ramvilas Paswan.

Natarajan said the BJP needs to assure the nation why money was not immediately handed to the police and why a police complaint was not lodged. Natarajan raised questions about the security of the Parliament and said it should be found out how the money reached Parliament House and where was it kept in the House.

"How did the MPs bypass the security cameras in Parliament?" she asked, adding, "if these MPs smuggle money in Parliament with the approval of its (BJP) leadership, we feel that the security of Parliament has been compromised by these MPs".
