AHMEDABAD: The BJP said given the current UPA-Left stand-off over the Indo-US nuclear deal, a pre-term election looks imminent and in anticipation of this, the party has begun preparations.
"The way the cracks have developed amongst the UPA allies namely the Congress and Left parties, mid-term election looks imminent but cannot be said when," BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitely told reporters here.
The three main issues that will confront the UPA government will be its "weak leadership, indecisiveness and ineptness in handling issues concerning national security," the BJP leader said. Jaitley is on a two-day visit to Ahmedabad as BJP in-charge for assembly elections in Gujarat.
"A look at the three-year tenure of the UPA government will take you to the series of bomb blasts that rocked places such as Mumbai, Malegaon, Hyderabad, Delhi, Ayodhya and Varanasi.
The central and state governments have to put their heads together to think as to why they had failed to bust the lurking terrorist modules," he said. Out rightly rejecting the Sachar Committee recommendations for their advocacy for religion-based reservation and communal budgeting, the former Union Law Minister said the BJP will oppose its implementation.
