HC admits petition filed by Jayalalithaa
Sunday, 09.09.2007, 11:02pm (GMT-7)

MADURAI: The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court admitted a petition filed by AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa, seeking to stay all further proceedings pending before a lower court in a contempt of court case against her.

Justice S Nagamuthu, who admitted the petition, posted the matter for final hearing on September 21. Jayalaithaa, in her civil revision petition, also prayed for quashing the proceedings pending before the Tiruchirapalli district munsiff court by referring the same to the Apex Court.

Following her alleged remarks against the Supreme Court order over Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's citizenship, four Congress supporters filed the present contempt application before the district munsiff court.
