Bangladesh War hero Manekshaw given state funeral

NEW DELHI: Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw, whose military victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war led to the creation of Bangladesh, died in Military Hospital in Wellington, Tamil Nadu. He was 94. he was honored with a state funeral by the Central government.

Health ministry to fund Ayurveda university

UPA to go ahead on accord with IAEA

NEW DELHI: With the UPA-Left meeting on the Indo-US nuclear deal remaining failing to break the deadlock on the issue, the government appeared determined to go ahead with the India-specific safeguards agreement with IAEA at a timing of its choice. The mood at the ninth meeting of the sparring leaders of the UPA and the Left was "not pleasant" and discussions turned stormy at one point when the issue of the next meeting of the committee set up to resolve the differences on the nuclear deal came up.

NRI woman jailed for kidnapping, torturing boss

LONDON: An NRI estate agent who kidnapped and tortured her boss for seven hours after she was sacked was jailed for ten years. Ambreen Gul, 23, recruited another sacked colleague Mukshud Ali and two others to carry out the plan and extort 200,000 pounds from Waqas Malik.
