Tibetan protests reach Beijing

BEIJING: Tibetans staged a small protest in Beijing on Monday, a witness and an activist group said, the first such rally in the capital since demonstrations against Chinese rule of Tibet broke out last week. Around 50 people had gathered in a silent protest outside a building in the Chinese Minorities University in the Haidian district of western Beijing, the witness, who did not want to be named, told AFP.

Hyde Act 'must': Boucher

NEW DELHI: Amid concerns here over the Hyde Act, the US has suggested that the "domestic" legislation would have to be taken into account in operation of the civil nuclear cooperation with India. "The Hyde Act is a domestic legislation (and) the 123 agreement is an international agreement. I think we can move forward with both in a consistent manner," Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher told reporters here.
