CHICAGO: On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Chicago witnessed a thrilling Arangetram by Neha Pathak of Skokie at Triton College in River Grove.
Each number was unique in its own way. While the "Shiva dance" comprising intricate poses was in the Bharatanatyam style, the latter part of the program was presented with variety of novel dances. The "Tarangam" where she balanced a pot filled with water while dancing with her feet placed on edges of a plate was a breath-taking performances.
The most wonderful dance of the evening showing Neha's mastery in the "Kuchipudi" style of dancing was "Mayur Kavuthuvam." Here she drew a peacock with her feet while dancing and left everyone in awe. The whole auditorium erupted in a cheering applause as the peacock was revealed when the frame was raised.
The joy on her face during each performance clearly showed her love and passion for the art. Along with classical dancing, Neha is an expert in various forms of Indian folk dances. She plans to open up her own dancing school for new generation fusion dances.
