NEW YORK: ImaginAsian TV, America's first 24-hour Asian American network, is launching a new 3 ½ -hour South Asian block called "Simply Desi" beginning October 20. The block will feature Pulse-The Desi Beat, Koffee with Karan, ICC Cricket World, Newsweek South Asia, and My India. Announcing the launch at a press meet in Manhattan, Oct 20, J. Edward Lee, President and COO, ImaginAsian said, "It is four years now since ImaginAsian has been working diligently to provide an effective platform for the Asian American community."
On the company's many expansion plans, Lee said apart from the launch of Simply Desi, ImaginAsian will be opening a second theatre in Lost Angeles. The launch of Simply Desi was a natural addition to the evolutionary process of their business, Lee said. Simply Desi will be part of the basic package on cable and subscribers do not have to pay extra to avail of this programming, Lee informed. Vishesh Sharma, Producer of Pulse- the desi beat, said the USP of the one-hour show will be the Indian American community.
David Chu, Senior Vice President of Production and Programming at ImaginAsian TV said, "We are very excited about our new South Asian programming. The programming is scheduled to air on Saturdays from 8:30am - 12noon PT/ET and on Sundays from noon to 3:30pm PT/ET. Some of these programs will also go on air on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at different times.
