Monday, 10.22.2007, 01:21am (GMT-7)

NEW YORK: Saavn has announced a special edition card promotion to give away five of the hottest Bollywood dance tracks on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com). With this latest promotion, the New York and Mumbai-based digital media company Saavn is making a major impact with its purpose to make hit music and movies from the Indian subcontinent more accessible to audiences globally. Saavn plans to distribute these special edition cards to consumers and media partners at promotional events across the country.

These exclusive Bollywood music cards reflect the work of the best musical artists working in India's booming film industry today. "We're excited to be marking new ground in technology and music through this distribution relationship," said Vin Bhat, Co-founder and General Manager of Saavn. "We specifically chose five songs that have been chart-toppers in India, so that they can the same exposure, recognition and success worldwide."

Bollywood has made its way into Western popular culture over the past year, frequently cropping up in American movies, television programs, and commercials. At the same time, Bollywood music is becoming more and more popular, but it's still not readily available.

Until now, it could mostly be found in small, neighborhood Indian shops or through low-quality clips of videos found sporadically on the Internet. With Saavn's content being available through iTunes, everyone can enjoy Bollywood music on their own iPods or computers.
