Naya Andaz dance competition a big success

NEW JERSEY: The 1947 Production & Entertainment, Inc. added yet another feather in its cap by successfully hosting 16th annual "Jet Airways Naya Andaz" - The only dance competition of the year on March 1 evening at the prestigious State Theater, New Brunswick, New Jersey.

The highlight was the dynamic presence of charming, popular Television Star Rajashree Vaidya as chief guest of this gala entertainment night. She is the Saloni of 'Saat Phere' fame - a soap on Zee TV. She mesmerized the audience with her remarkable speech and loving dialogues with fans in the audience.

"Jet Airways", which has successfully entered the international travel market by introducing a direct flight between USA and India, was the proud "Title Sponsor" of this popular town mega event. The organizers headed by the winner of National Award for the Best Direction for his ambitious film "Parzania" - Rahul Dholakia and his equally talented colleagues Piraan Erachshaw, Sandip Patel, Raju Sethi and Albert Jasani and scores of other dedicated, committed selfless volunteers, presented a very delightful competition studded with superb dancing talents, pleasing music, and state of the art enchanting stage decoration.

This year's "Naya Andaz" stands out for the several reasons. Like big Awards functions in Bollywood, "Naya Andaz" also initiated naming the event after "Title Sponsor". This year "Jet Airways" had the distinction to be a part of this new historic trend setting beginning. Deepak Oberoi, Regional Director, East Coast & South America of Jet Airways, announcing its major breakout in the American Aviation Market with daily flights to India from JFK & Newark.

He also assured comfortable, affordable and on time journey. This year's performances had many varieties injected by the choreographers. The swift changes resembling and matching western music / dance pattern and diversified dress selection have impressed the audience. Emcee Suresh Menon succeeded in keeping audience in control.

He encouraged "Rajashree Vaidya - Saloni" to share her impression with viewers after each item was done. The organizers praised the long standing continued supports such as New York Life, Swad, Tilda, Patel Brothers, Dr. Navin Mehta, Dr Vithal Dhaduk, Aaj Tak & Headlines Today, Sony Entertainment Television Asia, Urban Tadka of Dimple Group, Globe 7, H.R. Travel and many more. Naya Andaz competition has become the yardstick for the highly talented choreographers to display their best talents to the appreciative audience. This competition was held in two categories - Junior (15 Years) and Senior (Above 15 years), with a total of sixteen groups. Rajashree Vaidya - Saloni, who also acted as the distinguished judge, selected first, second and third position winners in each category as well as the best choreographer and the best costume based on the participating group's presentation.

The result of this contest was tabulated at the end. The announcement of launching of new radio station on internet, www.myradioguru.com has opened up new horizon for the music of India and the west as well as the fusion of music. It was quite commending on the part of organizers to select Sixteen 16 groups out of more than 50 entries. Since 1993 "Naya Andaz" Contest has not only gained the nationwide popularity prestige and prominence but also has become the role model for many similar events.

It has attracted class and mass and that was yet anther proof that in spite of very cold weather such a large turnout is repeatedly possible. Besides winners, all the participants also received trophies. The winners are as follows: First Prize Nritya Creations, Choreographer Meena Basu Nag; Second Prize Nupur School of Dance, Choreographer Madhavi & Pratik Devasthale, Third Prize Tisnagi from Ghungroo Creations, Choreographer Geeta Mishra.
