NEW YORK: International drumming sensation Sunny Jain recently performed with the famed Sufi-rock band, Junoon, at a landmark performance in Srinagar, Kashmir.
As part of the inauguration of the Institute of Kashmir Studies and hosted by the South Asian Foundation, the concert of 10,000 people marked a pivotal step forward in Indian-Pakistani relations.
Just back, Sunny Jain, will perform with his highly regarded Indo Jazz group, Sunny Jain Collective, a mesmerizing blend of jazz and Pan-Indian music, namely Bhangra, Bollywood and Hindustani classical.
With international accolades, tours throughout the United States and India and 3 CD releases under their belt, his Collective features: Rez Abbasi (guitar/sitar-guitar), Steve Welsh (sax/effects), Gary Wang (bass) and Sunny Jain (drums).
The performance is slated for June 9 at the Tea lounge, Brooklyn, NYC.
